There is nothing like the innocence and merriment of a child!  As moms, we can choose to let these sparks of merriment illuminate our day and refresh our souls.  It is as if God plants these young ones in our lives so that we can smile and be refreshed.  Choose to be renewed today by the sweet smiles and comments of your young ones.  They are only so young for a time.

As we put the finishing touches on a vegetable tray for a Fourth of July celebration, our inquisitive three year old questioned, "Where are we going?"

I looked down at her bright smiling face and answered, "To Uncle Brian's party."

Immediately she responded with yet another question.  "Who's birthday is it?"

Of course a three year old might consider that every party is a birthday party.  I smiled and chuckled inside as I replied, "It's America's birthday."

Before I could get another word of explanation out of my mouth, she questioned, "Is America going to be there?"

Two weeks after an incredible "buy one get one free" sale and an impromptu spelling lesson with the cereal purchased at the sale, Dad was home on a Saturday watching the young ones.  When Dad asked what each child would like for breakfast, the four year old promptly asked, "Dad, could I have some of that spelling cereal?"

Dad wasn't quite sure whether spelling cereal was a breakfast choice or one of our educational games.  Upon further questioning, the four year old commented, "Dad, just open the pantry."

He did and quickly found out that spelling cereal was indeed a breakfast choice.  When I arrived home, my husband quipped, "Will you quit having so much fun with the kids!" I snickered.
